Star NZ filly MIllwood Nike extended her unbeaten stretch to SIX with a 1:52.7 2YO Fillies NZ Sires Stakes win at Ashburton while GR1 winner Lightning Dan sizzled at Menangle to put another sub 1:54 win on his 3YO tally.
In North America, CAPTAIN mare Ahoy took her $70,000 Corbin Maturity Series race at The Red Mile, while 3YO gelding Energetic Hanover clocked 1:49.4 at Harrah’s Philadelphia to take a division of the Simpson Memorial Albatross.
Of our past sires, SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE again led the pack with eight wins across the week – Illawlong Kim twice, Evie Beautiful, Tarlaw Toll, Telemachus, Beach Wreck, Woody Lombo & Smooth Baht. There were trebles for WESTERN TERROR (Im The Mightygrams, Ashlee Nitro & Letsplayuni), WELL SAID (Joeys Hangover, Alakazam & Bigjimvalentine) and BETTING LINE (Lucky Zara, Dourado & Sweetgamblingrose).
ROCKNROLL HANOVER kept his place as the top of the Australian sires table for average progeny earnings ($37,000) with wins from Heza Head Honcho & Lils Nightmare, while both FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Lavender Dolly) and BLISSFULL HALL (Asmileandawinx) recorders winners.
