STAY HUNGRY saw his first $100,000+ earner this weekend after filly Hunger Strike went back-to-back to win the $156,000 APG Sales Graduate 2YO Final at Albion Park. The win kept STAY HUNGRY at the top of the Australian First Season Sire table on average earnings, and winners to starters strike rate (52%) from a debut crop of just 46!
TALL DARK STRANGER has also captured his first big money winner early in the North American season with Karma clocking 1:52.1 to claim the $100,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes 2YO Fillies Final at Oak Grove and in third place Accede, also by the exciting first season sire.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS continued his wonderful run with four solid local winners – Octagonise took consecutive wins with his Lees Orchard Stakes victory in Launceston, Captain Blight won in 1:54.6 by 10m at Gloucester Park to bring his bank up to $62,000, two-year-old CC Arden broke his maiden in just his second start at Addington and at Melton, Gawn also went back-to-back to take his earnings past $73,000.
In North America the Kentucky Sires Stakes action is underway at Oak Grove, with CAPTAINTREACHEROUS son Arson victorious in the $100,000 3YO C&G Final in 1:50.1 while at The Meadowlands, Caviart Belle went 1:49 to claim the $100,000 Jerry Silverman Memorial just ahead of STAY HUNGRY filly Sarasota Hanover.
Of our past roster, BETTING LINE had the best of it yet again in both hemispheres – at The Meadowlands his star son Abuckabett Hanover clocked 1:47.4 to win the $428,000 William Haughton Memorial while at home he was represented by five winners – Foveaux Gambler, Line Dance, Bohemian Braids, Extrinsic and Milliewood. FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Filly Thirteen, Smokeshow & Dont Goin Thewater) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Kiss On The Beach, Serengetti Sunrise & Bay of Biscay) both took trebles while there were winners for WESTERN TERROR (Send It & Im Alrite) and WELL SAID (Petes Said So).
