STAY HUNGRY still tops the Australian First Season Sire table for average progeny earnings, and no wonder with the winners continuing to come fast from his first small crop – this weekend it was Ravenous Romeo (bred by L Barron and L Tabbakh) adding to the ranks after saluting at Bunbury.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS also takes his place at the top of the tables as the leading all-age average earnings sire for the season, while his overall progeny average in Australia continues to run high at more than $82,000! Adding to this incredible figure this weekend were Captains Knock (John Rutter) who claimed the GROUP 3 NSW Breeders Challenge 4YO E&G Final at Menangle by 16m in an astonishing 1:48.4! That’s a clean sweep of the series and three consecutive wins for the stallion to take his earnings past $494,000. Taking a Listed Classic in Victoria was Jilliby Willow (T Board & L Thompson), a talented CAPTAIN daughter who also took her third consecutive victory in The Angelique at Melton, bringing her earnings to $148,000.
His juveniles were also to the fore this week – a new three-year-old winner in Franco Santana (Spreydon Lodge) at Alexandra Park, a third win for Magician (Taffy Ltd) at Addington and at Albion Park, rising star two-year-old filly Cool And Classy (Solid Earth Pty Ltd) made it five wins from six starts with her 1:55.2 victory.
Of our past list yet again it was BETTING LINE starring with six winners – Young Bluey, Betting Star, Soho Seraphine, Lambro Mach, Gipsy Princess and Flo Jo Carvalho. Next best was WELL SAID (Kates Virtue, Gottahaveahobbie and Sweetly Spoken), with a double for SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (My Secret Beach & Shallow Beach) and winners each for FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Filly Thirteen) and ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Rocknroll Raider).
