Both at home and overseas our superbly-bred sire STAY HUNGRY has recorded more outstanding results this week. The son of SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE had a small debut crop in Australia of just 46 but from those he has had eleven winners from 23 starters, the latest being the Durham Park-bred colt FASTING who clocked 1:53.9 at Menangle to win on debut.
In North America, he proved again why his progeny’s average earnings continue to soar past $57,000 with two Pennsylvania Sires Stakes 3YO Consolation winners and Kentucky Sires Stakes mares’ race in 1:49.

HERS HUNGRY (STAY HUNGRY – Injeanous Style) hit the line a neck in front of favoured Strong Poison to capture the $35,000 third leg for four-year-old mare pacers. HERS HUNGRY threw down a sizzling final quarter-mile of her own to give Zeron a sweep of the sire stakes for four-year-olds on the 15-race card to stave off heavily favoured Strong Poison by a neck in 1:49. It was a lifetime best for the mare. Keep My Secret and Tony Hall snatched the early lead from the rail and led the field of five through the first quarter in :28.1. Strong Poison and David Miller left from post position two. The duo pulled prior to the half-mile marker after sitting in second to click off times of :55.3 and 1:22.2.
HERS HUNGRY left from post position four and remained there until advancing into third turning for home. Strong Poison still had plenty of pace, but HERS HUNGRY had more, as she used a :25.3 final quarter to ensure she was the mare who would be having her picture taken. Keep My Secret rounded out the trifecta. Trained by Travis Kolaczynski, HERS HUNGRY improved her career slate to 30-8-7-0 and she has earned $76,717 in purse money.
The mare is a half-sibling to Winner Is Coming (BETTING LINE, $148,302) and Style For A Mile (CAPTAINTREACHEROUS, $319,288). She was a $27,000 purchase by Jeffrey Dauplaise and Aimee Scheid at the 2021 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. HERS HUNGRY’s great granddam is Hall of Fame member Delinquent Account and her granddam, Art Account, foaled five offspring that broke the $100,000 barrier. The mare was bred by All For Won and paid $28.20 to win.

A bit less surprising of a winner in the $50,000 3YO Pennsylvania Sires Stakes Consolations was 9-2 shot ARMADA HANOVER, a STAY HUNGRY gelding who came from the pocket to pass favored Vengeance Blue Chip by a head in 1:49.3 while taking the group’s consolation for driver Tim Tetrick, trainer Brett Pelling, and owners David Mc Duffee, Rojan Stables, and Pelling Racing LLC. -5 favorite SARASOTA HANOVER (STAY HUNGRY) moved early to the top and won as expected, pacing in 1:50.4 for driver Scott Zeron, trainer Linda Toscano, and Jablonsky Held Stable, Camelot Stable Inc., John Fodera, and South Mountain Stables.
