The Victorian Horse of the Year awards took place on Sunday for the 2021 season, and the sons and daughters of Empire sires were very prominent, with 10 finalists and four ultimate winners:
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS was represented by Encipher (Victorian 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year) and Catch A Wave (Victorian 2YO Pacing Colt-Gelding of the Year), as well as finalist Tough Tilly.
SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE had winners in Honolua Bay (Victorian 4YO Pacing Entire-Gelding of the Year) and Act Now (Victorian 3YO Pacing Colt-Gelding of the Year), as well as finalists in Joanna, Maajida, Boots Electric, and filling all three nominations in the 3YO colts section, Bondi Lockdown and Patsbeachstorm.
Empire congratulates the astute breeders of these stars of the track, particularly of winners Encipher (Tyson Linke), Catch A Wave (Benstud Standardbreds & the O’Sheas), Honolua Bay (Lauriston Bloodstock) and Act Now (Durham Park).
