What a huge weekend for our world class sires!
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS was the sire of no fewer than eleven winners across Australasia and an exciting 1:49.3 winner in North America – Flawless in a leg of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes for 3YO Fillies. At home he was represented by new 3YO winners Squadron at Newcastle and Hoo Haa at Addington, and new 2YO winner in 1:54.6, Sanchez in a heat of the NSW Bred 2YO Series. The Riverina Paceway was a happy hunting ground with CAPTAIN progeny Chart Topper (1:52.6), Backwards First (1:53.7) and Captains Catch (1:52.5) also getting the chocolates at Wagga. Also at Addington, Franco Sinatra cracked $78,000 in earnings, and at Mildura La Captain gave the Captaintreacherous x La Machane cross a double for the week after Benbullen saluted earlier at Yarra Valley. Gawn pushed past $60,000 with a 1:53.8 win at Ballarat, for three wins from his last four starts, while at Menangle our boys scored a treble with My Ultimate Carter in 1:52.8 ahead of Mick Danger (Captaintreacherous) and Wayoutwest (Western Terror). Exciting times ahead too for Captain Hammerhead, now over $234,000 in the bank after win #10 at Melton, a 1:51.4 sprint to nose out fellow CAPTAIN runner Jillibyjacksparrow.
STAY HUNGRY also saw great results in both hemispheres – Coniston saluted by 4.8m on debut at Mildura to make for his TENTH local winner, the most of any first season sire. At Harrah’s Philadelphia, two divisions of The Stallion Series for three-year-old fillies were won by STAY HUNGRY daughters – Lyons Legend ($303,000) and Ginger Tree Belle.
BETTING LINE led the way yet again when it came to our past roster – at The Meadowlands, he topped $1.12m in stakes with a 1:47.3 win in the Brower Memorial, while at home, he was represented by seven winners, keeping him well into the top ten Australian pacing sires on overall earnings, overall winners, and number of wins – Chenin Beach, Sonic Seelster, Soho Seraphine, Deadline, Whatarethodds, Betting Ranger & Corbie Stumbler. Doubles for WESTERN TERROR (Lucky Terror & Western Arterra), FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Sharkattack & Starzzz Reign) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (The Rainbow Beach & Mondello Beach) and a winner too for ARTSPEAK (Aunty Frances).
