A big victory for CAPTAINTREACHEROUS son Jorge Street (bred by Mathew Day), taking the 2025 Carrick Cup by a whopping 17m margin in track record time. The win takes his earnings to over $75,000 – just a little more to go before he hits CAPTAIN‘s Australian progeny average of $82,700! Three-year-old colt Sanchez (S & K Robertson) is already there, and cracked the $100,000 mark with his Wagga win in 1:53.2. Elsewhere, CAPTAIN had two new three-year-old winners – on debut, Mediator (Breckon) at Alexandra Park and at Melton, Seathestars (Judds & Commadeurs) in 1:53.1 by 18m.
Another yearling sale and another stellar result for CAPTAINTREACHEROUS breeders with three of the top five lots at Nutrien Sydney on Sunday. Island Banner’s colt commanded $200,000, the Distant Memory filly $190,000, The Baggy Green colt $120,000, and The Arch Nemesis colt $100,000. In total his stock amassed $810,000 with an average of $115,700! It was terrific to see the STAY HUNGRY colt from Cinco Amigos go through for $90,000 and Gotta Hav Me reach $50,000.
In North America, STAY HUNGRY son Classic Frank clocked 1:53.2 to take a heat of the Wilbur Zendt Memorial at The Meadows.
BETTING LINE led our former list this weekend with a treble – Our Rebel Yell, Neon and Classic Line – with doubles each for ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Lullaby & Rocking With Charm), WELL SAID (Midnight Pirate & Second Amendment) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Twilight Beach & Tough Shaz). ARTSPEAK was represented by Peaksart and SEALED N DELIVERED by Frankntank.
