Another winner for STAY HUNGRY with two-year-old Heeza Malteeza saluting in 1:57.5 on debut at Newcastle – that’s now three winners from his first five starters in Australia, putting him at the top of the first season sire table – no surprise given his stock in North America have already amassed over $9.6m.
Buyers spent well on his small draft at Nutrien Sydney yesterday, including $75,000 for the stunning Dizygotic Lass colt giving him a sold lot average of $42,500. TALL DARK STRANGER colts were also in demand, his best out of Prophesy bringing $65,000 and CAPTAINTREACHEROUS of course led the sale. The top lot was The Arch Nemesis colt who fetched $250,000 but his sold-lot average was an incredible $103,750.
On the track he continues to dominate too – GR3 Sapling Stakes winner Hezatreacherous was having just his second start and clocked 1:54.4 in the classic making a Menangle double for the sire after the 1:54.6 win in the FFA by Hot And Treacherous put his earnings over $400,000! Niki Nah Nah was also breaking bank in Victoria, her 1:54.6 win at Bendigo pushing her past $100,000 and further south in Hobart, Captain Dan reached $65,000. At Alexandra Park, he secured a treble – a new 3YO winner in Aye Aye Captain, filly All You Need Is Me made it four wins from five starts, and gelding Skipper posted his second lifetime victory.
Of our past sires, it was BETTING LINE again in the lead with four winners – Spirit Inside, Dourado, Neon & Break The Line – with trebles for both WESTERN TERROR (Major Mickey, Madame West & Runfromterror) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Infinity Beach, Playa Blanca & Remember Me Now). ROCKNROLL HANOVER was represented by Lils Nightmare again, and ARTISTIC FELLA by Sultanfella & Braeview Fella.
