Two wins from three starts after the weekend for STAY HUNGRY two-year-old Coniston who saluted yet again, keeping the exciting sire on top of the first season sire table on average progeny earnings for 2024. CAPTAINTREACHEROUS had yet another brilliant few days, securing six winners including new winner Lakelsa (Addington). With back to back victories were Captain Bligh (1:54.3, Gloucester Park) now with $74,000 in the bank, and Treacherous Times who notched up $82,000 after his Melton win. Perfect Class neared the magic $300,000 mark with his Melton win, while at Northam, mare La Vista topped $78,000 with her Elliott Memorial and Mick Danger posted a new PB of 1:50.5 at Menangle to bring up $71,000 in earnings.
In North America, The Meadows was a happy hunting ground with STAY HUNGRY colt Stay Focused taking a division of the 2YO C&G Pennsylvania Stallion Series, and CAPTAIN sons Captain Albano (1:49.2, Devlin Miller Adios Elimination) and World Beater ($48,000 Albatros division in 1:53) both in the winner’s stall.
Of our past sires it was a tie between WESTERN TERROR (Blitzern, Dee Terror, Western Action & Runfromterror) and BETTING LINE (Operative LIne, My Line Of Fire, Le Spartacus & Maginot Line), ahead of FOUR STARZZZ SHARK with a treble (Five Star Shark, Dun Me Up Francy & Beef City Starzzz). Also represented were WELL SAID (Petes Said So) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Colerne).
