What a massive few days for our star sire CAPTAINTREACHEROUS! Eleven winners all together, with seven of those all coming on Friday night and including THREE GROUP 1 winners and two GROUP 2 winners.
At Alexandra Park, it was the star filly Millwood Nike taking out the Group 1 Northern Oaks and extending her unbeaten status to 11 wins from 11 starts. His 2YO daughter Treacherous Love was successful in the GR2 Delightful Lady Classic, while his trotting mare Double Delight pushed through $146,000 in earnings with her win.
All the action moved to Bathurst on Saturday night, and CAPTAIN two-year-olds dominated with Lux Aeterna and Chart Topper taking out the GROUP 1 Gold Tiara and Gold Crown respectively. 3YO Bainbridge posed 1:55 to win the GR2 Gold Chalice.
Elsewhere, Captain Blood at Cranbourne represented another new 3YO winner for CAPTAIN, while he also had winners at Narromin (Candillo), Menangle (Lightnign Dan in 1:51.7 to take the Furina Memorial), Newcastle (a 7th win for My Ultimate Skeeta in 1:53.2) and Mt Gambier (Keayang Braveheart).
These remarkable results not only cement CAPTAIN‘s reputation as a top line sire of juveniles, they put him at the top of the Australian 2YO Sires by Stakes table. Congratulations to connections of all these outstanding performers.
STAY HUNGRY was the sale topper at the SA Southern Stars sale, with his colt bringing in $20,000 while BETTING LINE produced the top filly at $15,000. STAY HUNGRY also produced the topper at the Tasmania Harness Yearling Sale, his only colt in the catalogue fetching an outstanding $44,000.
Of our former sires, ARTISTIC FELLA had Australian-bred winners in both hemispheres, with Artisticbutnaughty winning locally and Lucky Artist taking a $40,000 leg of the Blue Chip Matchmaker at Yonkers in 1:51.4. There were trebles for WESTERN TERROR (Dream Maze, Nor Westa & Rocktagonal) and FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Torque Like Motion, Lavender Dolly & Promise Me Heaven) and doubles for BETTING LINE (Flying Disco & I Betuwantano) and BLISSFULL HALL (My Courtell & Kingston Shannon). SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE secured his usual brace (Sciario in the Mayors Cup at Bathurst, The Talk, No Motive & Orama) while there were winners for WELL SAID (Well Said Harps) and HESTON BLUE CHIP (Will He Pike).
Good luck to consigners with lots by our roster at this weekend’s Nutrien Equine Yearling Sale in Melbourne.
