A solid seven for CAPTAINTREACHOUROUS this weekend, headlined of course by the GROUP 1 Chariots of Fire win at Menangle by Frankie Ferocious in 1:49.4! Up the coast it was Gandalf in 1:55 at Newcastle and at Strathalbyn, a double in Captain Braveheart, now with over $100,000 in the bank, and Treacherous Saint. In Victoria, mare Jilliby Willow also notched up $100,000 with her win at Melton, her second in a row, and there were wins for three-year-olds Captain Oh Captain (Marburg) and Franco Encore (Gloucester Park).
The final APG yearling sale for 2024 took place in Perth and netted some good results for stock by our boys with a STAY HUNGRY colt bringing $42,500 and a son of BETTING LINE knocked down for $54,000. We look forward to a terrific offering at next weekend’s Nutrien Sydney sale.
As a sponsor of Newcastle’s meeting we were gratified to see the trifecta in the feature Tommy Raey Sapling Memorial Final filled by Empire-sired runners – Ultimate Cruz (BETTING LINE) took victory in 1:55.9 to remain unbeaten ahead of Spicy Shannon (STAY HUNGRY) and Upstream (CAPTAINTREACHEROUS). Our sponsored Empire Stallions Pace was also won by WESTERN TERROR son Major Mickey, one of five weekend winners for our past sire with Dream Maze, Western Action, Jessejames Shannon & Deanothedinosaur. BETTING LINE‘s figures were equally good with Dourado, Nivekalon Punto, Butter Cup and Burning Tickets adding to Ultimate Cruz’s victory. SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE had four winners – Kiss On The Beach, The Talk, Glenledi Boy and Bay of Biscay, and represented were also ARTISTIC FELLA (Regal Cheval), FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Sharkattack) and WELL SAID (The Blue Box).
