What a huge couple of days for our headline sires, CAPTAINTREACHEROUS and STAY HUNGRY!
STAY HUNGRY sired the winners of both the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes Final ($252,000) and Consolation ($52,000) – Seven Colors tied the track record in 1:48.1 in the Final while Brue Hanover went back to pack to take the consolation in 1:49.4.
CAPTAIN at home was headlined by the magnificent mare, Encipher, with her dominant victory in The Eureka. She stopped the clock at 1:51.8 at Menangle to claim the $1.97M race, the richest in the world. Keep an eye at the sales for fillies next year – if you can find one – CAPTAINTREACHEROUS mares (Lyons Sentinel + Encipher) now represent his highest money earners in BOTH hemispheres!
Also at Menangle, Sure Thing Captain took the Group 2 $100,000 Stockade, one of two three-year-old winners across the weekend with Captains Catch clocking 1:53.3 to take his seventh win at Wagga. Winning in just his second start was 2YO Double Jeopardy at Addington while at Melton, Captain Pins won the Rising Star Final. Let It Linga went back-to-back with a win at Gloucester Park to kick past $65,000 in earnings while there were also wins for The Matriarch (1:55.9, Winton) and Jillibyjacksparrow (Cranbourne).
In North America, Warrawee Vital joined CAPTAIN‘s high echelon winners with a 1:47.4 win in the $75,000 FFA at Woodbine Mohawk Park, while at Pocono Downs, Captain Albana won the $252,000 PSS 2YO C&G Final in 1:50.2 and Sea Shanty Hanover took the $50,000 PSS Fillies Consolation in 1:54.1.
Of our past roster, the grand old man WESTERN TERROR topped the list with seven winners – Kimble, Anyonewilldo, Franco Wster, Our Uncle Jim, Dream Maze, Caulonia Terror & Cordeor while there were winners for WELL SAID (Beatboxer), ARTSPEAK (Sheffield Park) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Tide And Time). BETTING LINE was represented four times – Neon, Killara Shogun, Betting Origin & Operative Line – while FOUR STARZZZ SHARK had a treble (Karinya Gill, Letsgobro & Five Starzzz Saint) and BLISSFULL HALL a double (Secret Jack & My Courtell).
