What a huge couple of days for our boys!
STAY HUNGRY gelding Snowiewillrev extended his unbeaten streak to four when he secured the 2024 2YO C&G Sweepstakes Final at Hobart, while in North America his three-year-old son De La Hoya Hanover took the $40,000 Stallion Series Final at Harrah’s Philadelphia in 1:51.4.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS though – what a stallion! With NINE local winners over the weekend, it’s no wonder he his a special milestone: $20,000,000 in progeny earnings in Australia. That’s an average of $79,700 for each of his 252 starters, of which a remarkable 201 have secured wins. Headlining his weekend list was of course the great CATCH A WAVE who is now CAPTAIN‘s THIRD multi-millionaire with his 1:49.8 win in the GR1 Len Smith Mile at Menangle. At the Victorian metro meeting, The Lost Storm took his semi-final of the rich Vicbred series in 1:54.4 but the rest of CAPTAINTREACHEROUS‘ weekend results were juveniles, cementing his position at the top of the Australian 2YO Sires table – Captain Cheddar saluted on debut at Wagga, while at Newcastle, My Ultimate Freddie made it three in a row. There was a new 2YO winner at Addington in the exquisitely-bred Party Central, and at Alexandra Park, there were 2YO NZ Sires Stakes heat wins for filly Won And Only (1:54.6, ahead of fellow Captain girl Hot And Dangerous) and gelding Captain Sampson in 1:55.3 at just his second start. Three-year-olds on the NZ list were Semba (1:54.6, Alexandra Park) and Treacherous Baby (hitting $73,000 at Addington).
Overseas, CAPTAIN added to STAY HUNGRY‘s results with some big winners – Captain Optimistic (1:50.1, 2YO C&G) and Rocket Deo (1:50.1, 3YO Fillies ahead of Stay Hungry’s Miraculous Deo & Captain’s Donegal Spirit) both claimed $150,000 Finals of the New Jersey Classic at The Meadowlands. At Woodbine Mohawk Park it was Cant See Me in the $83,000 2YO Fillies Champlain Stakes in 1:53.1 and at The Red Mile, 3YO filly Gifted One clocked 1:51.1 to take a division of the Kentucky Golden Rod series.
For our past roster, yet again BETTING LINE proved his worth with five winners – Midnite Desire, Bet The House, Betting Star, Isthisjustfantasy & Line Dancer, while there were winners for both WESTERN TERROR (Rocktagonal) and WELL SAID (Im Reggie).
