What a weekend for CAPTAINTREACHEROUS!
Both the 2YO series finals of the GROUP 1 Breeders Crown were secured by progeny of the outstanding sire – Encipher in the fillies final and the rising star Catch A Wave in the colts final by 14.4m! Over in the west, 3YO filly Sahara Storm posted 1:54.4 to win at Gloucester Park and in North America, Lyons Sentinel clocked 1:49 in the $175,000 TVG Mares final at The Meadowlands. In the $350,000 TVG Open it was a CAPTAIN trifecta – Allywag Hanover in 1:48.1 for the win from Workin Ona Mystery and Catch The Fire.
HUNTSVILLE 2YO Early Action also claimed victory at Meadowlands, securing the $386,000 Governor’s Cup.
It was a weekend double for HESTON BLUE CHIP with Don Heston up at Albion Park, and Girl From Oz going back to back with a 1:52.7 at Tabcorp Park Menangle.
Past sires were well represented this weekend, none more so than SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE – the magnificent Breeders Crown trio Honalua Bay, Act Now and Maajida, as well as well as the perennial Key Largo, Squire, Soho Tsunami and Dynamite Beach. Doubles for WELL SAID (Well Said Harps & Lavaughn), FOUR STARZZZ SHARK (Catch The Shark & Prince Sahara) and ARTISTIC FELLA (Country Run & Artistic Cowboy). Also winners for WESTERN TERROR (Sew What), BLISSFULL HALL (Clarenden Dazzler) and ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Forest Force).
